Early Company History
At the end of World War II, Mahindra switched production from military vehicles to tractors in response to the growth of agriculture in the country. India’s rugged terrain needed a rugged tractor, and Mahindra partnered up with International Harvester to produce the iconic B-275 in 1962. We received orders for over 85,000 B-275 tractors in our first year, and we were on our way to become the largest tractor manufacturer in India.
Mahindra USA Formed
After contributing to the sustained growth of agriculture in India, we realized that Mahindra products were equally suited to other parts of the world. In fact, after dealing with the rugged landscape in India we were particularly experienced in manufacturing tractors that were built to last. We began our American operation in 1994, establishing Mahindra USA in Tomball, TX. We presently operate 4 distribution centers and a network of over 500 North American dealerships. In 2003, Mahindra tractor sales officially broke 1 million units worldwide.
A Tradition of Innovation
Mahindra Tractors feature technology informed by a commitment to research and development. Our products are designed to expedite every stage of the work cycle from planting to harvesting, and we strive to continue finding ways to maximize operational efficiency. Our company is proud to practice Total Quality Manufacturing (TQM), and our efforts were acknowledged when we received the prestigious Deming Prize in 2003. We also became the first tractor company to receive the Japan Quality Medal for excellence in 2007.
Current Mahindra Tractor Models
Mahindra manufactures over 300,000 tractors every year, and we have products that are right-sized for any agricultural operation. The 15HP Yuvraj and the 20 HP Yuvraj 215 NXT Tractors are great for a smaller farm and offer a lot of power in a compact design. The 30HP JIVO 245 DI Tractor is a great step up for an expanding farm. We also have several high end models suitable for a large commercial farm including the 50 HP 575 DI, 475 DI, Yuvo 575 DI and Arjun 555 DI tractors
