Snow blowers are extremely helpful pieces of equipment, especially in areas with high snowfall. However, if you’ve never used a blower before, there’s often a rather steep learning curve, and it’s easy to get frustrated with the machinery. To ensure your first time using a snow blower goes as smoothly as possible, we recommend reading over our helpful operating tips below.

Adjust Your Auger

To successfully remove snow with your blower, you’ll need to adjust your model’s auger to about the same height as the drifts outside. This will take some practice to get the hang of, and we suggest reading your owner’s manual for tips on adjusting your auger to the correct setting. It’s also important to note that you’ll need to raise your auger higher if you’re blowing an area on gravel or grass and set it lower if you’re crossing pavement or concrete.

Plan Ahead

To avoid having to go back over the same areas again and again, you’ll need to set a path for your blower to follow. This will help you keep track of where your blown snow is landing and ensure it doesn’t end up blocking any important paths or entryways. While you’re setting the path for your blower, be sure to take a moment to pick up any stones, twigs, or trash that could get caught in your machine and shoot out dangerously.
